Leather Jacket and Sneaks
I have essentially been trapped in my apartment since Friday due to the nonstop snow here in Chicago. As I'm writing this on Sunday afternoon, we've gotten about 9 inches of snow and I am OVER IT. There's only so many ways to style your snow boots (even though I got some really good ones on sale)! I love love love living in Chicago and it was always my goal to move here right after college (mission accomplished), but wow, the winters suck.
On a more positive note, I am loving the fact that two of my favorite events are happening right now — New York Fashion Week and the Olympics. My favorite shows so far have been Cushnie et Ochs and Tanya Taylor. Watching the glam and craziness of NYFW via various blogs and Instagram stories is good enough for now... but some day I'd love to see it for myself. I have, however, been lucky enough to see the Olympics up close and personal twice — first in Vancouver, then London. I was a mere spectator (as I'm sure you all guessed), but it was an incredible experience to see people from all over the world in one place for a central purpose. My family and I have always watched the games, but I'm even more obsessed after seeing it in action so I am already sucked in!
On to the outfit...
This is the kind of outfit I feel most comfortable in. If I'm running errands or to going to meet a friend, this is what I'd throw on. I live in jeans and this is my favorite pair currently. They are the perfect wash to go with a white tee.
I am super picky when buying certain pieces and leather jackets are one of them. When I first bought this jacket I thought, "ugh, I look like I just hopped off my Harley." It looked so chic and classic on the model. Why did it look like a whole different jacket on me? But then I broke it in a bit and it really grew on me. Now it's a go-to piece I frequently reach for. The moral of the story is, don't doubt yourself! You're cool enough to rock that moto-style jacket/sock booties/tiny Matrix sunglasses/whatever.
Have a good week everyone!
